Barnyard Dance
Those of you with kids probably recognize the title reference to a Boynton board book. . . currently one of Henry’s favorites.
At any rate, we took Henry to UW’s College of Agricultural and Life Science “Farm Breakfast” this past weekend. In addition to breakfast, there was a petting zoo set up for the kids. Here you can see Henry encounter his first non-dog, non-cat live animals!
new tricks!
Wow, lots of firsts for Henry lately!
First, about two weeks ago, we noticed a tiny little lump on his gum. yup–a tooth! since then, one little chomper has broken the surface, and the one next to it is well on its way. He’s been pretty crabby because of this, but ibuprofen is mommy’s best friend. Teething rings seem to help a little bit too.
He also easily sits up by himself now–although in these photos you can see him using his boppy as a back rest.
He totally digs his activity saucers–here’s one at Grandma & Grandpa’s apartment, but he also has one at home.
And this is maybe my favorite thing right now–just last weekend he started doing “So big!” I think they’ve been working on it at daycare, and now he does it all the time. He’s also trying to wave and clap–getting better and better at those things, though not as consistent as his response when you ask him, “How big are you? How big is Henry?”
He also eats different stuff now… his new favorite snack are these baby “puffs”–basically a super light baby cereal that dissolves almost as soon as it hits a baby’s mouth. He started out by sort of mashing them into his fist and then somehow getting them into his mouth, but now he’s almost mastered a pincer grip, which I think is some sort of developmental milestone. He gets *so* excited when he sees us take out the cannister of puffs. . .he squeals and kicks his legs like crazy. I’ll try to get a picture of him enjoying his puffs soon.
He spent most of this week with Grandma & Grandpa since daycare was closed for spring break. They went for walks, and played a lot, and looked at all the lights in the apartment. Everyone had a great time!
